INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION

Picture
Picture
It is the third biggest object in the sky. Did you know that you can find out where you can see the space station from your back garden? We have done it many times. It was great, especially when we knew Tim Peake was aboard. NASDA announces a couple of weeks in advance the dates when the space station is passing over. You just need to go to Spot the Station website (spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings), click the blue pin on Norwich and you can see when it will be visible again. There is also an app for your phone which can be downloaded from the Google Playstore. It is called the ISS Detector and can sound an alarm a few minutes before it appears.

To quote from the NASA website " Visible to the naked eye, (the ISS) looks like a fast moving plane, only much higher and travelling thousands of miles per hour faster" Great fun for all the family, and it's free!!
